Disciple Making (Local)

Welcome to the Disciple Making class.

There are multiple parts to this class. The first part consists of reading the two text books.

The second part
consists of actually making disciples. Rather than just learning how to make disciples you will actually make disciples. In fact, there are several lessons that can only be completed by taking part in disciple making exercises. Activity papers will record your progress. The final set of lessons consist of taking at least one other person through a disciple making process. You will emerge able to make disciples with anyone, anywhere at any time.
Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others. 2 Timothy 2:2 NLT

    1. Read the Tell Phase on GreatCommission.com Become familiar with the three Action Points: Engage, Invite, Inform. Engaging people in conversation, Informing them about the life Christ offers, and inviting them to know, is the front end of disciple making.

    2. Do the Soularium survey with three people. Learn about Soularium cards. These must be people who you don't know the answers to the questions. They may be friends, people at work, neighbors, etc. They may be those you randomly (providentially) encounter. Keep the cards with you. Feel free to tell them that you are taking a class and the homework includes asking people to take the survey. Ask if they would help you out by taking the survey. The five question version of the survey contains the following questions.

      1. What three images describe your life right now?
      2. What two images describe your life in five years?

These should be people who you don't already know the answers to the questions. It may be an acquaintance or someone you don't know. The real harvest is among those we presently don't know. Remember the Heart Reader. Feel free to inform them that you are taking a class and part of the homework involves taking people through a four-question survey. Ask if they would help you out by taking the survey. Otherwise just engage people in a purposeful conversation using FORM/FARM as a guide. You'll be amazed at the number of opportunities to have this type of conversation.

  3. Have your paper reviewed and review another paper at the MBC Group.
Lessons 10
Picture
  1. There are two part to this lesson.

    1. Read through the Teach Phase from GreatCommission.com. Become familiar with the three Action Points in the Teach Phase: Establish, Mature, Challenge. Establishing people in their faith, maturing them through weekly meetings, and challenging the committed to be trained in how people grow in their faith. One great tool that helps establish people is called the One Thing Study.

    2. Do five One Thing Studies. Read about the One Thing Study. These should be done over the course of no fewer than five days. That means the fastest you can do them would be one work week. This will be painstakingly slow for those who like to speed through the lessons. However, use the "down time" to meditate upon your One Thing throughout the day. Think of it at red lights, while waiting in line, or whenever the Holy Spirit brings it to mind. You'll be amazed at the results. That's the reason for the seven-day pace.

Start at the beginning of a book of the Bible. Read as much as you wish during your devotions (passage, chapter, etc). Pick up where you left off for your next One Thing Study. Read Scripture in the format God intended; book form. Make sure to mark it so you can refer back to it. This simple little devotional tool will revolutionize how you connect with God through His word. Hopefully you experience a jump start that keeps going throughout your lifetime.

  2. Write an Activity paper.

  3. Have your paper reviewed and review another paper at the MBC Group.
